Olena Berg
Olena has extensive expertise in the fiduciary responsibilities of directors and trustees of boards of institutional investors. As Chief Deputy Treasurer of California, she served on the boards of CalPERS and CalSTRS.
From 2006 to 2012, she served on the VEBAs for General Motors and then the UAW. This $50 Billion+ trust provides health care benefits for UAW retirees and their families. Olena chaired the investment subcommittee.
From 1998 until the present, she has served on the board of Financial Engines, a public company providing investment management services to participants in 401(k) plans.
As Assistant Secretary for the Employee Benefit Security Administration at the US Department of Labor, she was responsible for the enforcement of ERISA, including its fiduciary standards.
Olena also has extensive real estate experience. She managed a portfolio of residential properties for Gerson Bakar and Associates and managed a division of Lowe Enterprises that assisted financial institutions with work-outs of troubled properties.
Olena graduated summa cum laude from California State University Chico and received her MBA, with honors, from the Harvard Business School.
